A new global tradition of generosity, equity, and hope

On January 11 we do more than turn a page—we turn the tide. Givingtide invites nations, corporations, foundations, and communities to pause, reflect, and commit to a single, audacious formula for shared prosperity: the 1-1-1 Framework. This is the annual heartbeat of a movement that refuses to accept preventable poverty as inevitable.

The Power of 1-1-1

1% Equity Giving — The Volume

We commit at least 1% of our resource—National GNI, Corporate Revenue, or Foundation Endowment—to uplift the world’s poorest 10%. This is the fuel of the movement.

1% Cross-Continental Giving — The Direction

We commit 1% of our philanthropic budget (no matter the size) to causes outside our home continent. This ensures generosity flows across borders, replacing isolation with solidarity.

Each year we unite behind one worldchanging initiative. 2026 flagship: The Institute of Preemptology (preemptology.org) — training 10,000 Peemptologists – the first physicians in history trained to provide comprehensive preventive screening, potentially saving 60 million lives.

The Ritual: A Global Pause at 1:11 PM

At 1:11 PM local time, wherever you are on Earth, Givingtide calls for a profound stillness. Whether in a boardroom, a parliament, a classroom, a palace, a factory, or a field, we stop. We silence the noise of industry to tune into the frequency of humanity.

The Setup:

  • Wear the Colors: Display Blue (for Love) and Green (for Life) on your person or your building. (Optional)
  • Sound the Bell: If possible, ring a bell once to initiate each minute. (Use a visible countdown, vibration alert, or on‑screen banner where sound is not appropriate.)

The Three Minutes:

Minute 1: THE PAST (Remembrance)

The bell tolls. Silence falls.

We honor the memory of those who did not make it into this New Year. We mourn the lives cut short not by accident, but by preventable inequity—hunger, disease, ignorance, and exclusion. We acknowledge that their loss was not inevitable.

Minute 2: THE PRESENT (Solidarity)

The bell tolls.

We turn our hearts to the 800 million people currently living in extreme poverty. We refuse to look away. We stand in spirit with the mother rationing food, the child missing school, and the families waiting for a chance. We affirm: I see you.

Minute 3: THE FUTURE (Resolve)

The bell tolls.

We vow to act. We dedicate our resources—our 1%—to ensuring that by this time next year, the statistics of suffering will be lower. We make a public promise: Fewer lives lost. More dignity restored.
